1 arrested for alleged kidnapping, shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Authorities are still looking for one of two kidnapping and shooting suspects.

A 48-year-old man, whose name was withheld, told the Kern County Sheriff's Office that two men he knows came to his home on Pacific Street on Monday night, argued with him, and then kidnapped him at gunpoint.

While driving in the area of Panorama Drive and Mount Vernon Avenue, one of the suspects allegedly shot the man in the back, the sheriff's office said.

The man escaped and called 911 from a nearby store. His wound wasn't deemed life-threatening, the sheriff's office said.

One of the suspects was captured after a car chase with Bakersfield police. He was identified as 25-year-old Anthony Ochoa. The other suspect wasn't publicly identified.

The sheriff's office didn't say what motivated the alleged kidnapping and shooting.
