BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Kern River Valley mother was in court Monday as a judge found her competent to stand trial for a charge of willful cruelty to a child.

Amanda Reese's daughter, 14-month-old Sophialynn Marie Taylor, died in January after she was found unresponsive at her home on Erskin Creek Road in Lake Isabella.

Reese's live-in boyfriend, Jared Ramirez, was arrested and charged with murder.
