Highway 99 open again after overturned big rig removed

DELANO, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — All lanes of northbound Highway 99 at the Tulare-Kern County line reopened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday following a lengthy closure caused by a big rig crash.

The semitruck crashed around 4 a.m. on Hwy. 99 at Avenue 24, north of Delano. The truck was hauling swimming pool chemicals.

The driver suffered only minor injuries, the California Highway Patrol said.

Traffic was backed up several miles on Hwy. 99, and vehicles were diverted onto Avenue 24.
