BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A woman was killed after being hit by a vehicle in central Bakersfield.
According to police, 59-year-old Yvonne Shelley Cupis was found lying in the intersection at 30th and Q streets around 1:30 Tuesday morning. The coroner's office released her name Wednesday morning.
Witnesses told police they saw a black, raised single-cab pickup truck, that may have a chrome or a single stripe and a loud exhaust leaving the area. It was last seen westbound on 34th Street.
Cupis was pronounced dead at the scene.
A team shut down the intersection for several hours to reconstruct the crash.
