2 men linked to series of robberies caught in suspect car

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Police officials say they've located two men suspected of robbing a half-dozen stores around Bakersfield over the last few weeks.

At around 6:15 p.m. Friday, a police officer saw a yellow Chevy Cobalt that was linked to a robbery that had happened earlier that day.

The officer pulled the Chevy over in the 100 block of East Terrace Way.

Officials said that the two men inside the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Jesus Soto and 21-year-old Francisco Martinez Jr., were involved in Friday's robbery, as well as four others in Bakersfield and one in the Kern County Sheriff's jurisdiction.

Officers said they found clothing inside the car that had been used during the robbery. They did not report finding any weapons inside the car.

As of Sunday morning, officials haven't released any formal charges against Soto or Martinez Jr.
