Motorcycle rider dead in crash with turning car
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A motorcycle operator died Tuesday night after crashing into a car at Bell Terrace and Loch Lomond Drive.

Joshua Bencoma, 20, died after crashing into the driver's side of a car that was turning left, according to the California Highway Patrol. His name was released by the Kern County coroner's office.

Bencoma tried passing the car when it turned, the CHP said.

A 15-year-old motorcycle passenger also suffered injuries. His name was withheld.

The CHP said the car's driver, 19-year-old Sergio Vazquez Jr., of Arvin, was under the influence at the time of the crash, but he was not at fault in the crash. Vazquez left the scene after the crash but soon returned, according to the CHP.

Vazquez was arrested, but the CHP didn't specify on which charges.
