BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 5-year-old boy suffered a broken right femur Thursday morning at the hands of a hit-and-run driver, according to police Sgt. Joe Grubbs.

The boy was hit in the area of East 9th Street and South Owens Street just before 8 a.m. The driver reportedly stopped, got out, claimed it wasn't his fault, told someone he didn't have a license and took off.

The driver was described as a black man, 6-foot-2, goatee, wearing a turquoise shirt and red shoes and driving a black GM SUV.
