BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Willie Rivera was sworn in as Bakersfield's newest city councilman Wednesday night.

He's also the youngest, at just 22 years old.

Rivera was elected early this month to fill the Ward 1 seat vacated by Rudy Salas when Salas was elected to the California Assembly. He received 36.71 percent of the vote, edging fellow candidates Efren Martinez, Marvin Dean, Stephanie Campbell, Tomeka Powell and Donald Vereen.
